February Highlight: Barb Densmore

Why do you serve on the Caring Kids Ministry team?

When I was a child we lived in a very rural area. A pastor and his wife would drive around the area picking up children to take to a little country church each Sunday. Sometimes I went and sometimes I would just wave them on. They always came every Sunday. Because of his faithfulness, as a child I asked Jesus into my heart. This pastor demonstrated the importance of children to the kingdom of God. Jesus stated the importance of children to him and to His kingdom. God has called me to this ministry.

How long have you been serving in this position?

I have been serving in children’s ministry, in some capacity, for the last 50 years.

What area(s) do you serve in, or have you served in the past?

I serve on a cleaning team and counting team. In the past, I have served on the LBA, the building committee, as director of a children’s ministry board, as Sunday school director, song leader, church treasurer, and “general do whatever needs to be done”.

What is something you would like to share to encourage others to volunteer?

Jesus said in Matthew 25:40, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers & sisters of mine, you did for me.” Being a volunteer in any position is just a way to show gratitude to Jesus for his forgiveness, grace, provision, and faithfulness to us. I receive so much more than I give.
