Why do you serve at Caring Community?
Caring Community Church has been my second home since I was a little girl. I was taught that at home you participate in all the goings on, glorious or mundane. So, I find "I must be about My Father's business." (-Luke 2:49b NKJV)
How long have you been serving at Caring Community?
Aside from joining in my parents' ministry work as a child, I started volunteering of my own volition over 20 years ago.
What area(s) do you serve in, or have you served in the past?
I've served on the Cleaning Team, Children's Ministry for nursery, pre-school, k-5 & countless VBSs (happy memories!). I've taught Youth Group, co-lead a Young Adult Small Group study, sang for the Youth Group Worship Team, volunteered for many Fireworks outreach teams, worked (and currently work) Festival of the Forks & French Market outreach teams, participated in (and lead) local nursing home outreaches, I've spent time pulling weeds in the church's flower beds, hours of child-care to support other ministries, I've helped with Adult Christmas Party planning or entertaining (even hosting a Victorian dance one year!), I've done many Asparagus Sale packings--basically anywhere I could jump in, I have done so.
Currently I serve on the church Worship Team ministry, which I have for over twenty years, I am the artistic director and a teacher for Heaven's Least Ballet (HLB)--working on ten years now, perennial support person for the Good Friday Seder meals, I film & edit video testimonies a few times a year, help with lighting design when needed, and periodically sub-in to lead worship for Thursday Prayer.
What is something you would like to share to encourage others to volunteer?
Follow where our Father leads. You are walking into His house each week--and it will feel like a homecoming if you participate in His goings on.
There are good people here, and it will be a precious bonding experience to serve with them in ministry. Years of serving with an open heart has turned people I didn't know, thought I didn't like or misunderstood into invaluable brothers and sisters in Christ. "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." -Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV
